In a thrilling encounter at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again reminded cricket fans why he is the most electrifying batter in IPL 2026, smashing 93 off 38 balls against Lucknow Super Giants to help Rajasthan Royals chase down a mammoth 221-run target in just 19.1 overs, winning by seven wickets.

It was a dramatic night in Jaipur for the Orange Cap race. Mitchell Marsh had earlier fired a magnificent 96 off 57 balls to temporarily seize the top spot in the run-scoring charts, lifting LSG to 220 for 5. But Sooryavanshi had other plans.

The teenage opener blazed his way to 93 with ten sixes and seven boundaries, eclipsing Marsh to reclaim the Orange Cap. Sooryavanshi now leads the IPL 2026 run charts with 579 runs at a staggering strike rate of 236.32, including one century and three fifties, while Marsh sits second with 563 runs.

The records kept tumbling for the youngster. Sooryavanshi is now the youngest batter to aggregate 500-plus runs in an IPL season and became the first Indian to smash 50 sixes in a single IPL season, with his tally now standing at 53. He is on the verge of breaking Chris Gayle’s all-time record of 59 sixes in a single IPL edition.

The win pushed RR to 14 points from 13 games, back into provisional fourth place, with their playoff fate now hinging on their final league match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
