The IPL 2026 cap races have entered an exciting phase after a thrilling double-header on Sunday, with Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna storming to the top of the Purple Cap standings while Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli made strong moves in the Orange Cap leaderboard.

Prasidh Krishna’s four-wicket haul against Lucknow Super Giants helped GT restrict LSG to a moderate total of 164/4 in 20 overs, propelling him to the top of the wicket-takers’ list with 10 wickets from just four games. The right-arm pacer, who won the Purple Cap last season with 25 wickets, has picked up right where he left off, showing that he remains one of the most dangerous bowlers in the competition.

In the evening clash at the Wankhede Stadium, RCB put up a commanding show against the Mumbai Indians. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli provided a blazing start, with RCB scoring 71/0 off the power play. Salt smashed a well-made 78 before captain Patidar came in hard from the very first ball.

Patidar smashed 53 in just 20 balls against MI to take his season tally to 195 runs, putting him second in the Orange Cap standings, only behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals, who leads with 200 runs.

Kohli, meanwhile, continued his consistent form. The RCB legend scored his second half-century of the season and now has a sequence of 69 not out, 28, 32, and 50, placing him fifth in the Orange Cap race, just four runs behind Yashasvi Jaiswal in fourth.

RCB piled up a mammoth 240/4 in the first innings, with MI finishing at 222/5, handing RCB an 18-run victory.

With the tournament still in its early stages, the cap races promise to be fiercely contested. Sooryavanshi’s explosive starts, Patidar’s authoritative leadership knocks, Kohli’s vintage consistency, and Prasidh’s relentless wicket-taking are already setting the tone for a spectacular IPL 2026.
