In a moment that stopped cricket fans in their tracks, Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mohsin Khan achieved something no bowler had managed in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s IPL career, bowling a maiden over to the teenage sensation and dismissing him on the very last ball during LSG’s home clash against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday.

Sooryavanshi, 15, had been unusually subdued from the start. LSG rattled RR early, with Mohammed Shami removing both Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 off 12) and Dhruv Jurel (0 off 1) within the first three overs, leaving RR at 32/2.

When Mohsin Khan came on in the fourth over, it was a battle of contrasting forces, raw teenage power versus seasoned left-arm pace. Bowling consistently above 140 km/hr, Khan’s sharp angle into the left-hander kept Sooryavanshi on the back foot, managing only defensive prods through the first five deliveries.

On the final ball, Sooryavanshi attempted a big shot to the on-side off a 142 km/hr delivery, but skied it straight to Digvesh Rathi at cover, who pouched a well-judged running catch. Sooryavanshi walked back for just 8 off 11 balls.

Mohsin Khan has been a reliable weapon for LSG since 2022, overcoming a serious injury to remain one of India’s finest uncapped pacers. Despite this rare quiet outing, Sooryavanshi had already made history earlier in the day — becoming the youngest player ever to reach 500 IPL runs. Not every chapter of a legend’s story is a blinder, and even this one only adds to the intrigue.
