With Delhi Capitals (DC) set to host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday night, former Mumbai Indians cricketer Aditya Tare has urged DC to iron out their mistakes and brace for a potentially tricky spin challenge.

Speaking on Star Sports, Tare pointed out that Delhi Capitals have had a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign so far and must show greater discipline if they hope to revive their fortunes.

The key concern, according to Tare, is the pitch. He warned that a slow, turning surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium could work strongly in KKR’s favour, given the strength of their spin attack. On a typical batting-friendly track with early assistance for pace bowlers, DC would hold the advantage, but a gripping, turning wicket could swing the contest firmly toward Kolkata.

Meanwhile, all eyes are also on KKR pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who has yet to feature for the franchise this season after an injury. KKR mentor Dwayne Bravo said Pathirana is very close to returning but cautioned that his comeback must not be rushed given the nature of his injury, stressing that timing is crucial.

Pathirana was acquired by KKR for Rs 18 crore, and his absence, combined with the unavailability of Indian pacer Harshit Rana, has dented the team’s pace resources considerably.

With both sides having plenty to prove, tonight’s clash promises to be a high-stakes encounter at the capital.
