Delhi Capitals have turned to England’s leg-spin all-rounder Rehan Ahmed to fill the void left by Ben Duckett in their IPL 2026 squad. Ahmed has been signed for ₹75 lakh, stepping in after Duckett’s abrupt exit from the tournament last month.
Duckett withdrew from his IPL 2026 contract to focus on rebuilding his form and salvaging his Test career following a disappointing Ashes series. However, his last-minute pullout is likely to cost him dearly, the move could trigger a two-year IPL ban under league regulations.
The precedent was set when his England teammate Harry Brook received a similar ban after withdrawing from his Delhi Capitals contract just before the start of IPL 2025.

Ahmed’s arrival is expected to add further firepower to DC’s already potent spin department, which is anchored by captain Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. The 21-year-old brings considerable T20 experience, having featured in 97 matches in the format, picking up 85 wickets at an economy of 8.13, while also contributing 1,071 runs with the bat at a strike rate of nearly 126.
His ability to both take wickets and contribute lower down the order makes him a versatile option for Delhi as they look to strengthen their title push in the second half of the season.
