Chennai Super Kings’ injury-plagued IPL 2026 campaign has taken yet another painful turn, as bowling all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the remainder of the season just one day after making his debut.

The injury occurred during CSK’s home clash against the Mumbai Indians at Chepauk on May 2, which also happened to be Ghosh’s first IPL appearance. The young all-rounder tumbled while bowling his first delivery to MI batter Naman Dhir, and although the exact cause of the fracture remains unclear, the damage proved serious enough to end his season on the spot.

Despite the unfortunate exit, Ghosh managed a decent debut spell of 1/24 from three overs and also took a sharp catch to dismiss MI opener Will Jacks cheaply.

CSK wasted no time in confirming the bad news. “Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in the IPL 2026 Season. Get well soon, Rambo,” the franchise posted on X.

Ghosh becomes the fourth CSK player and third fast bowler to be ruled out this season, following Nathan Ellis, Ayush Mhatre, and Khaleel Ahmed. MS Dhoni is also yet to play a single game, still recovering from a calf issue, while Spencer Johnson missed multiple matches earlier in the campaign.

CSK are yet to name a replacement for Ghosh and currently sit sixth on the points table with four wins from nine games. Their next fixture is against Delhi Capitals on May 5 in Delhi.

Despite the mounting setbacks, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has provided a ray of hope with back-to-back fifties, giving the Men in Yellow some much-needed momentum.
