Iconic Match-Winning Performances in PSL Finals

Some Iconic Match-Winning Moments in PSL

PSL 2025 Final: Kusal Perera and Sikandar Raza’s Record Chase

The PSL 2025 final will go down as one of the greatest T20 finishes ever. Lahore Qalandars chased 202 against Quetta Gladiators with just one ball to spare.

Sikandar Raza’s story was straight out of a movie. He played a Test match for Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Then he flew across continents and landed in Lahore just 10 minutes before the toss.

Needing 47 runs off the final three overs, Raza smashed Mohammad Amir for a four and a six off his first two balls. Kusal Perera (62* off 31) kept Lahore in the hunt throughout the chase. Raza finished with 22* off just 7 balls to seal the win.

This was the highest successful chase in any PSL final. Shaheen Afridi became the only captain to win three PSL titles.

PSL 2024 Final: Shadab Khan’s All-Round Masterclass

Shadab Khan delivered when it mattered most in the 2024 final against Multan Sultans. He picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs, including the crucial scalp of Mohammad Rizwan.

Islamabad United won on the final ball, making it their third PSL title. Shadab won the Player of the Tournament award with 305 runs and 14 wickets.

What Makes a Match-Winning Performance in PSL?

Not all big scores or wicket hauls win matches. The context and pressure define true match-winners.

Chasing performances carries more weight. Jason Roy’s 145* came while chasing 241. Colin Ingram’s 127* won a chase. Rilee Rossouw’s 121 nearly pulled off the second-highest chase in PSL history.

Death bowling spells define games. Shaheen Afridi’s ability to take wickets in the powerplay and death overs makes him invaluable. Hasan Ali’s strike rate of 16.66 means he takes a wicket roughly every 17 balls.

Finals require different nerves. Sikandar Raza flying from England and hitting the winning runs hours later is the stuff of legends. Imad Wasim’s composure under pressure won Islamabad their third title in 2024.
