Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, with the high-profile returns of Shimron Hetmyer and Alzarri Joseph grabbing headlines.
Hetmyer, who last featured in ODIs against England in June last year, had missed West Indies’ three subsequent series against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. His reintegration into the ODI setup comes as part of CWI’s strategic build-up towards the 50-Over World Cup in October and November next year. He is set to join the squad ahead of the third and final match of the series.
Hetmyer’s T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year was exceptional, scoring 248 runs at an average of 41.33 and a blistering strike rate of 186.46.

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph returns to the ODI setup for the first time since Australia’s tour of the Caribbean last year, having recovered from a back injury that had sidelined him since July 2025. Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie also returns after missing the series in New Zealand in November.
The series is scheduled from June 3 to 8 at Sabina Park in Jamaica, at a crucial stage of West Indies’ campaign for automatic qualification to the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Head coach Daren Sammy set the tone clearly: “For us, this series is about setting the standard. Intensity in the field, clarity with the bat, and consistency with the ball. We want to play fearless but intelligent cricket.”
