Pakistan batter Babar Azam wrote his name into the record books during PSL 2026, achieving a milestone that only three other cricketers in the history of the format have managed.
Playing for Peshawar Zalmi against Quetta Gladiators at the National Stadium in Karachi, Babar stroked an unbeaten 71 off 51 deliveries, an innings that pushed him into an exclusive club. He became only the fourth batter ever to register 100 or more fifties in T20 cricket, joining David Warner of Australia, Virat Kohli of India, and Jos Buttler of England.
Warner leads the all-time chart with 116 fifties from 436 matches, followed by Kohli with 107 in 419 games. Babar now sits third on the list, with Buttler at fourth having reached the 100-fifty mark across 497 matches. What makes Babar’s achievement even more remarkable is that he has accomplished this feat in 354 matches, significantly fewer than both Warner and Buttler.

The milestone came during a comfortable Peshawar Zalmi victory. Quetta Gladiators were bundled out for 154 in 20 overs, with Hasan Nawaz top-scoring at 37 off 35 and Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit each claiming three wickets. Zalmi chased the target down in 18.3 overs, with Mohammad Haris contributing 35 off 28 and Kusal Mendis finishing unbeaten on 21 off 19.
Babar, reflecting on both the match and his personal form, spoke with quiet confidence. He credited the team’s collective effort and noted that spending more time at the crease was helping him find his rhythm.
The milestone cements Babar Azam’s standing as one of the greatest T20 batters of his generation, and with his career far from over, further records appear well within reach.
