The India U20 women’s national team has departed for Sweden to intensify preparations for the upcoming AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026. Head coach Joakim Alexandersson announced a 24-member squad for the month-long Sweden training camp, which marks a crucial phase in the Young Tigresses’ AFC U20 Asian Cup preparations.
The squad left Bengaluru’s Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence on Thursday morning, embarking on an overseas exposure tour designed to sharpen their skills and tactical awareness. This Sweden preparatory camp comes ahead of India’s challenging Group C fixtures against Japan, Australia, and Chinese Taipei in April, as the India U20 women’s team aims to compete at the highest level on the continental stage.
India U20 Women Face Tough AFC U20 Asian Cup Group Stage
The Young Tigresses have been drawn in a competitive Group C of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026. India will face Japan on April 2, followed by Australia on April 5, and conclude the group stage against Chinese Taipei on April 8. Each match presents significant challenges, with Japan and Australia being established football powerhouses in Asian youth football.
Joakim Alexandersson Announces 24-Member India U20 Women’s Squad
Head coach Joakim Alexandersson has selected a balanced squad featuring three goalkeepers—Monalisha Devi Moirangthem, Nandini, and Ribansi Jamu. The defensive lineup includes Cindy Remruatpuii Colney, Nishima Kumari, Remi Thokchom, Ruchi, Sahena TH, Shubhangi Singh, and Thoibisana Chanu Toijam.

The midfield comprises Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam, Arina Devi Nameirakpam, Bhumika Devi Khumukcham, Misha Bhandari, Monisha Singha, Neha, Pooja, and Shruti Kumari. The forward line features Babita Kumari, Deepika Pal, Lhingdeikim, Shilji Shaji, Sibani Devi Nongmeikapam, and Sulanjana Raul.
